Choosing our film name . . .

Regarding our film opening, the genre, the meaning and the content of what happens, we had many options to choose from and had many disagreements with the name, however we made a list of choices to pick...

The Splintering
The Heist
The Get Away
Shatter
Fracture

We decided to settle with The Splintering as it resembled the characters breaking away when they were committing the crime and when they're older as they didn't know each other anymore

Costumes . . .

For our opening, we needed to choose costumes for our actors, we had to decide based on the characters they played. So for the journalist, we chose a sophisticated outfit, of a blazer and skirt, and for the gang committing the crime, we decided to dress them in hoodies and track suit bottoms, which is stereotypical robber attire. Above, are our sketches of the costumes to get an idea of what we were aiming for for the characters.

Time Lapse Examples . . .

We researched ideas to add to our opening, with advice from Ms Cope, we found that the idea of a time lapse would fit well, at the beginning of our opening, to show an establishing shot, and to create an atmosphere of anxiety and tension before king in to the bank to commit the crime, Chloe is waiting for the others to enter the bank. Here our some excellent examples of a time lapse...

Filming Equipment . . .

For our filming equipment we used a member of our teams iPhone 6, which has fantastic camera quality and sound quality. Chloe's iPhone was new, therefore having lots of space to put lots of videos and shots onto. In addition, we used a tripod to attach the iPhone 6 to, with a phone connector, which enabled us to stabilise our shots akin the filming look more professional.

Editing Equipment

After filming our footage for the opening, we decided to edit it on iMovie using my MacBook Pro. This made it a lot easier as it is portable so we could edit it anywhere rather than being restricted to the media suite at school. Especially with February half term taking up a lot of our editing time, if we did not use my laptop, we would not have been able to do any editing over the half term.

Feedback from First Draft

This is the feedback from our opening. By this point, the opening wasn't done and there was no music and the shots were not completely edited. We therefore felt pleased with the feedback we got seeing as it was not finished.
We took the constructive criticism on board and used them to make our opening better. We feel it benefited us and used the feedback in a positive way.
