Researching trailers for inspiration!
We decided to research some trailers that have similar aspects of editing, shots and sound, of which we would like to use in our opening. We found 'The Bling Ring', and 'The Impostor'. They're both really gripping, even though they have different genres, however, they both have a good sense of pace about them and particular shots which we want to get inspiration from, e.g the interviewing shots in 'The Bling Ring'

Initial Ideas . . .
These are our storyboards for our film opening, we have two very different ideas however, they are quite original. We also created mood boards to go with our ideas and initial plot, we are yet to work out the final narrative plot, but it should be up soon.

Looking back on our Preliminary Task!
So after, watching our Prelim task quite a few times, re-editing and filming, we came to the best decision to re-film the whole thing, as there were some obvious errors we had made, however we didn't realise until our teacher pointed them out and it suddenly jumped out at our faces every time we watched it, so something had to be done!
As i mentioned there were many things that were wrong with our Prelim task, but the main highlighted problems were...
- Missing a shot-reverse-shot, which was in the brief!
- Missing out several in-between shots, which would have made it flow and look more continuous
- There were shots which just got taken to different places with no pre-warning, making the audience think, how did she/he get there, when they were in that room a second ago?
- There was also way too much time wasted by having a continuous shot of chloe walking or about 5 minutes!
- The majority of our shots were a little shaky, resulting in a non-professional look to our filming, whether we intended to have shakiness or not, it didn't make the cut for what we wanted in our Prelim

Preliminary Task . . .
Our clip is about a sixth form girl being stalked by another boy in the school, our clip takes place in the school grounds, and has up to 3 actors within it. We include all of the devices requested to be used to in the clip, and we have successful continuity throughout.
Our clip starts off with footsteps at the side of the person walking, following with the stalkers footsteps trailing behind. We then get a shot of her walking, then stopping to pick up her iPhone that's being called, we get a shot of her iPhone being called by an unknown number, she picks up and the stalker is breathing heavily down the phone, the clips build tension from the stalker. After a confused Chloe ends the call, she walks off to go and get her folders from her locker, on a usual school day meets her friend and carries on her day with some weird coincides with the stalker.
For our year 12 preliminary task, the brief is to create a short film, including match on match action and shot reverse shot. One of the key focuses of this piece is continuity, which seemed easy at first, planning the shots and filming it, however, when we looked back on our piece all together, it proved that we need to film in more detail to make it effortlessly continuous.
